Classes for the MVSCC are Vintage Hobby, Vintage Sportsman and Vintage Modified. Classes for participants are determined at each race event by the directors present at the event, based on each car’s anticipated performance level.
-HOBBY CLASS- Will usually consist of the slower 1/3 of cars present. Quite often this class will contain cars that previously raced in the 50’s class, under the old rules format, and will utilize the older factory frames that were originally used for racing. In addition, most of the Hobby class cars have 4 or 6 cylinder motors. Drivers new to the club with an older style car and minimal experience may also start in this class before being elevated to the Sportsman Class. Drivers who win 3 races in this division may be moved up to the Sportsman Class for the remainder of the season.
-SPORTSMAN CLASS- Will usually consist of the middle 1/3 of cars present based on their speed. Normally this class will contain cars that were previously 50’s or 60’s class cars, under the old rules format. Most often these cars have original frames or manufactured tubular frames with 6 cylinder motors. Although at times the class may have cars with relatively stock V- 8 motors or drivers who lack significant experience. Drivers who win 3 races in this class may be moved up to the Modified Class for the remainder of the season.
-MODIFIED CLASS- Will consist of the fastest 1/3 of the cars present. Usually this class will contain the tubular chassis cars which are powered by the stronger 6 cylinder motors or the V-8’s. These cars would normally have run in the 70’s class under the old rules format. Drivers who win 3 races in this class may be subject to adding weight or handicap to insure close competition.
-All V-8’s, in any class, will be limited to a 2 barrel carburetor. (Holley 4412)
-All V-8’s, in any class, are required to run a restrictor plate. (Available through the club.)
-Tubular chassis, in any class must be at least 10 years old.
-SHOW CAR CLASS- Will consist of any vintage racecar used for display only, at tracks and off season shows.
