Administrative Rules
1.
All rules are good for 1 year. Special note: Any deviations from rules, specifications and engine parts will be subject to the approval of the Board. Fines and/or suspensions will be at the discretion of the Board (at the time of the infraction)
2.
All cars must pass inspection by a Race Inspector each year. Inspection stickers will be displayed on cars. All officers will be notified of failed inspections.
3.
The Board has control of all Club events.
4.
All drivers must have a valid drivers license (if under 18 years of age, a consent form must be signed by parent or legal guardian)
5.
No drinking of alcoholic beverages before or during racing.
6.
Everyone is responsible for their actions and everyone must abide by the track rules.
7.
The Board may exercise article XIV of the bylaws when deemed necessary by a quorum of club members.
8.
To preserve the MVSCC reputation, any member conflicts such as altercations on the track should be addressed with the President/Vice-President or their delegate. Please refrain from confronting the member in question without a board rep. Should a situation escalate, any board member or class director can give warning(s) to a class member for behavior unbecoming to the enhancement of the club.
9.
Any new driver racing for the first time with the MVSCC must meet with the President/Vice-President or their delegate to read/review the new driver information sheet.
10.
To race with the MVSCC all drivers must have a full membership. ($45.00)
Safety Rules
1.
Fuel line shut-off required within the reach of the driver. Fuel cell shall be 20-gauge minimum thickness metal encasement (box). Full firewall between cell and drivers, complete to each side of the cage, with no openings.
2.
Seat shall be bolted to the frame. Fiberglass seats shall have a metal frame. An aluminum seat is recommended. Headrests are required, unless part of the seat.
3.
Harness 3"lap belt and 3" shoulder harnesses attached to chassis mandatory. Seatbelt/harness assembly must be dated less than 5 years at beginning of current race season.
4.
Rock Screen – Mandatory. Full post-to-post.
5.
Drive Shaft - No drive shaft exposed to drivers compartment. Must have a drive shaft loop. Drive shaft shall be painted white. Shatter shield over bell housing or safety bell housing required.
6.
Roll Cage – Mandatory. Shall be made from .125 wall seamless 1 ½"pipe (no smaller) or 95 wall seamless 1 3/4" pipe. Crash guards shall be made of 90 wall or greater 1 ½" pipe. Homemade frames shall have 3 sidebars with gussets and up-rights. If a frame manufactured for racing (ex.rail frame) is used, gussets are not required and the frame may be the third rail. Padding is required and at all points where helmet may make contact. Padding shall not be Pipe Insulation.
7.
Brakes - Working brakes shall be on all four (4) wheels. No shut off valves are allowed. Random brake testing will be done.
8.
Fire Suit – Mandatory. One piece highly recommended. No rips, tears or excessive grease or oil. Class directors to check fire suits at time of yearly inspection.
9.
Helmet - Shall have 1995 Snell approval, SA-2000 or newer highly recommended.
10.
Neck Collars - Shall be worn during events.
11.
Gloves - Fire retardant gloves shall be worn during events.
12.
Racing Shoes - Highly recommended.
13.
Battery – Batteries are to be securely fastened and mounted in a spill proof container. Gell cell batteries do not require a container. All cars must be self-starting.
14.
Wheels - ¾ ton safety hubs mandatory on all four wheels. Aluminum and beadlock rims are permitted.
15.
Fully charged extinguishers are required. At the very least, each car shall have fully charged fire extinguisher in pit area.
16.
Hoods - Mandatory. Shall cover radiator hose and be compliant with style of car.
17.
All cars shall weigh at a minimum 2500 lbs with driver
18.
Cars utilizing methanol or alcohol shall be:
•
allowed to race at tracks with one other class utilizing alcohol or methanol
•
equipped with an on board fire supression system
•
be lettered with the words "alcohol" or "methanol" in a manner clearly visible to track safety workers.
19.
All cars shall have two exit points on either side of the drivers cockpit. Cockpit side panels to be no higher than the outside door edge.
20.
Rear bumpers shall be of adequate length to protect a minimum of 3/4 of each rear tire.
21.
Outside body side panels not to extend forward of front door post. Door post must
Competition Rules
General
1.
Car must appear vintage and be approved by Competition Directors for competition. Cars should be
Production Car Bodies with the Exception of grandfather cars that have been in the club or run with the
club before.
2.
Cars will be split up by the Competition Directors in conjunction with the club members into one of three competition classes at each event:
•
Limited Sportsman – slower cars
•
Sportsman – average cars
•
Modified – fastest cars
3.
Competition Directors shall instruct car owners to add weight and/or handicap any car, at any time, in any reasonable way as needed to ensure close competition.
Bodies
1.
Open wheel – any steel, American made, passenger car body, pre-1975
2.
Full fendered – any steel, American made, passenger car body, pre-1970
Chassis and Suspension
1.
Open Wheel - Any suspension. Chassis must be at least 10 Yrs. Old. ( chassis in question will be inspected by a knowledgeable chassis person.)
2.
Full fendered – any full factory framed chassis 10 years or older. Any suspension.

Other Rules
1.
Cars must be self-starting
2.
Transmissions must have forward, neutral, and reverse gears
3.
No live axle rear ends
4.
If something is not covered in the rules above it is the participants responsibility to contact an officer of the club to determine the car’s legality.
5. THREE WIN RULE:
1.
Any car and driver combination in either the Limited Sportsman or Sportsman class winning three feature races in a season will move up to the next class. Limited Sportsman car/driver combinations will move to the Sportsman Class. Sportsman car/driver combinations will move to the Modified class.
2.
Any car and driver combination racing in the Modified class winning three feature races in a season will be required to use a tire on the right rear of the racecar having a hardness of 62 or greater on the tire hardness scale. The tire must be acquired by the race team themselves, either new or used. The tire can be grooved, sipped and or ground in preparation for use. It is suggested that the team has at least two in their possession at the race in case they damage the first and require a spare. The hardness of these tires will be checked by a race director present at the track with one of two MVCC durometers. Either of these two club durometers wiil be the only gauges used for final decisions on the legality of a tire in question. In addition to the “HARD TIRE” any car/driver combination winning three feature races in the Modified class in a season is required to start in the back of the starting field for their class for the remainder of that season.
Line Up Procedure
HEAT RACES: (Eligible drivers will draw for position)
-Racers are to find the board and sign in on arrival at track.
-This should be done one hour before warm-ups.
-If this is not done on time you will be put at the end of the field for
your class.
-Starting positions will be in numerical order (Lowest to Highest)
-Drivers with less than 3 races with MVSCC will start scratch
FEATURE RACES:
-Start positions will be inverted from heat races
(Except in the event of no heat races, then no invert)
-Drivers who have won their last feature event attended will start
behind all cars eligible to draw for position (Exception: cars having
won their last event who have been moved up in class are eligible to
draw)
-Drivers with less than 3 races with MVSCC will start scratch.
EVENTS WITH TWO HEAT RACES OR TWO FEATURES:
-Limited Sportsman / Sportsman heat races will start the
Limited sportsman class in the inside lane and Sportsman Class in the
outside lane.
EVENTS WITH ONE HEAT OR FEATURE:
-Sportsman Class will start in the inside lane with the Limited
Sportsman Class cars following.
-Modified Class cars will start in the outside lane.
EVENTS WHERE TWO HEATS ARE RUN WITH ONE FEATURE:
-Sportsman Class cars used in the Modified heat to even the number
Of cars in the heat races will start in front of the Modified Class cars.
THREE WIN RULE:
1)
