The 50s class elected to change their rules at the Fall
Oct 2001 rules meeting of the Midstate Vintage Stock Car club as per the
following: 50s class Late Engine Cars are to be allowed into the 50s class
with the following understanding:
The 50s class Late Engine designation pertains to cars which
incorporate a later engine in reference to the stove-bolt 6-cylinders and
flatheads which were previously the only engines permitted in the 50s class.
Cars with these engines (i.e. 250 Chevrolet or Ford, 225
Chrysler et al) must incorporate the engine and all other applicable rules
of the 1960s class as of Oct. 2001(listed below) and these rules may not be
altered from the rules adapted as of Oct. 2001 for members wishing to have
their cars classified as 50s class late engine.
These cars must incorporate production car frames, which have
not been altered in any way in reference to changing the original height over
the axles or lowering the center of gravity of the car,(i.e. the front or rear
of the frame may not be zeed by any means). Chassis rules remain the same for
the 50s class late engine as the 60s class chassis rules as of Oct 2001
listed below.
These cars must incorporate steel leaf springs only as a means
of springing the car; no coil-overs or coil-over helper springs allowed.
Cars meeting this criteria will race against the current 50s
cars for class recognition at events held by the Midstate Vintage stock car
Club and be recognized as class or feature winners provided they finish as the
lead car of the 50s class and finish within the top 5 overall (in reference
to the 60s class cars).
All other safety, weight, and club rules as of Oct. 2001
continue to apply to the newly designated 50s class late engine cars.
Any future changes to the 50s Class Late Engine rules must
be agreed upon by a majority of the 50s class members that are not designated
as 50s Class Late Engine for this arrangement to continue.
Must declare class at time of inspection. This will be valid for cars entire season.
